Easy Instant Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

7 steps
Prep:5minCook:1min
I love hot chocolate around the holidays but I hate heating up milk and having gritty, chalky hot chocolate with chunks in it. I'm lazy and want the instant hot chocolate experience without sacrificing taste. I discovered that it's not necessarily what you use but HOW you use it! The way you make your instant hot chocolate makes all the difference. This very easy, minimal effort instant hot chocolate recipe is my go-to for a lazy but cozy and delicious night in watching Christmas movies.

Instructions

Step 1
Add hot chocolate mix to any mug of your choice. For jumbo sized mugs, add an extra spoon (or two!) of hot chocolate mix. The more, the merrier!
Step 2
Add boiling water to the mug about halfway, then mix VERY well until there is little to no chunks of powder left at all.
Step 3
Add more boiling water until the mug is roughly 3/4 full and mix thoroughly again. Mixing twice ensures fully dissolved hot chocolate mix.
Step 4
Fill the rest of the mug with cold table cream and mix until well blended. This gives your hot chocolate its creamy consistency and also cools it down to a drinkable temperature.
Step 5
Add a good thick layer of mini marshmallows on top. There should be virtually no hot chocolate showing beneath the marshmallows. The marshmallows are going to act as a barrier between the hot chocolate and the whipped cream so it doesn't melt as quickly.
Step 6
Shake your can of whipped cream well and pile as much whipped topping as you like on top.
Step 7
Sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg over top of the whipped cream and pop a candy cane in for a delicious garnish that will gradually add a peppermint flavoring to your hot chocolate as you drink. You can also add a cinnamon stick if you prefer.
