Instructions
Step 1
Soak the raw chickpeas (garbanzo beans) for about 8 hours or overnight till they double in size
Step 2
In a food processor, coarsely grind together all the ingredients.
Step 3
Check to see if the mixture can be shaped into a 1/2” ball. If not add breadcrumbs for binding.
Step 4
Refrigerate this mixture for a minimum of 4 hours. Preferably overnight.
Step 5
Make balls and flatten it into a disk by pressing gently.
Step 6
Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes. Grease the bottom tray with olive oil. Place the falafel balls in a single layer. Spray the top with olive oil and air fry for 15 minutes, flipping them over halfway through.
Step 7
Alternatively, these can be shallow fried. Serve with hummus or with pita pocket sandwiches.
