Snickerdoodles are great, but an extra dip into the cinnamon-sugar once they are out of the oven takes these cookies to the next level!
If you don’t like the idea of reusing the cinnamon sugar because of the raw dough, feel free to divide the sugar blend before rolling the dough balls.

Step 1
1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat the butter and sugars till light and fluffy

2. Add the egg and vanilla and mix till combined. remember to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl

3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and spices until combined.

4. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and fold it in until evenly incorporated.

5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. No longer than 24 hours.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 7
7. Remove the dough from the fridge and let it sit out at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to soften.

8. While the cookie dough softens, mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
Step 9
9. Using a 1 oz cookie scoop, create balls of dough and shape with your hands into a smooth ball.
Step 10
10. Roll the shaped cookies into the cinnamon-sugar then place on the prepared a cookie sheet leaving about 2 inches in between the cookies.

11. Keep the remaning cinnamon sugar!

12. Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 9-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

13. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5-7 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack for another 3-5 minutes
Step 14
14. This is totally optional, but once the cookies are cool and not falling apart, place each cookie back into the bowl of cinnamon sugar coating the tops of the cookie. These are cookies are great without this step but this will give you the ultimate snickerdoole cookie!

15. Place the cookies back on the cooling rack to cool completely and Enjoy!
