Instructions

Step 1
Clean and prep crabs. Remove the shells and save the crab butter. I recommend watching YouTube for tutorial on how to clean crab)
Step 2
In a large bowl, add cornstarch and lightly coat the crab. Add oil to a pan, and shallow fry the crab for about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside. In another large pan or wok, add oil and garlic and ginger. Cook until fragrant. Add crab, crab butter and toss together. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add oyster sauce, crab paste, ginger,, chilis, green onions and basil. Toss everything together then cover and cook for another 5 minutes or until fully cooked. (May vary if crab size) Remove the crab to a plate and leave some of the remaining sauce in the pan and add steamed rice. Mix the sauce and rice together to make “crab butter rice”.
Step 3
Take the shells and pop them in the oven and bake them for about 5 minutes. (They should already be cleaned) Scoop some of the crab butter rice into the empty shells and serve.
