Instructions
Step 1
Add about 1 tablespoon of the sugar to warm water or warm (about 100*) potato water. If you don't use potato water, add about 1 tablespoon of potatoes to the water as well. Mix to dissolve completely and then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let sit for about 10 minutes or until yeast is activated.
Step 2
Once the yeast is rested, add all other ingredients except flour and mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Add 1/2 the flour and mix thoroughly, and then continue to add flour until the dough cleans the side of the bowl. Should be approximately 6 cups. Dough will still be heavier and wetter than standard bread dough.
Step 4
Place in oiled bowl and cover
Step 5
Let dough rise for about an hour, then punch down
Step 6
Form small rolls (about the size of a large donut hole) and place on greased pan
Step 7
Let rolls rise for about 20 minutes until puffy
Step 8
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until deep gold.
