Southern Style Salmon Cakes

Salmon cakes served with grits was such a staple in my household. My dad made salmon cake and grits a lot for breakfast and we would even have them for dinner but with rice instead. This recipe is so simple and easy to make and truly a Southern favorite.

Instructions

Step 1
1. If you using fresh salmon, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and air fry on 400 for 10 minutes. If using canned salmon, remove the bones and break up in a bowl.

2. To your broken up salmon, add salt and pepper to taste, diced onion, flour, and beaten egg and mix until well combined.

3. Form mixture into patties and set aside while oil is heating up.
Step 4
4. Fry salmon cakes in oil until golden brown.
Step 5
5. Serve with grits or white rice.
