This recipe has been in my family for 200 years and it’s only five ingredients. This recipe is doubled but you can cut it in half and it will make 24 nuggets.

Step 1
Combine butter, sugar and milk in alarge non stick pan over low to medium heat and continuously stir until the mixture reaches soft ball stage or 238°. If you don’t have a thermometer then after 10 minutes take a small amount of mixture and drop it into a glass of cold water. It should form a ball. If you see just ribbons then it’s not ready. Continuing stirring and test every 5 minutes. Once it reaches softball stage turn off stove. Add vanilla and nuts. Mix well and pour into a buttered 13 x 9 cake pan. If you half the recipe then you will pour it into an 8 x 8 cake pan. Let cool and cut into small squares. Store at room temperature in covered container.
