Instructions
Step 1
Heat butter in 4 quart pot. Add onions to pot and cook on low heat until onions are golden; about 30 minutes
Step 2
Add chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boi, then reduce heat and let it simmer until onions are very soft; about 30 minutes
Step 3
Combine one 3rd cup of milk with the flower in a bowl and mix well beating out the lumps with the whisk.
Step 4
Add this mixture slowly to the soup while stirring constantly. Cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.
Step 5
Add the rest of the milk and just heat through; do not boil.
