Instructions
Step 1
1. Make the simple syrup by adding all the ingredients into a pot and boil for about 12 minutes.

2. Preheat the oven to 350°
Step 3
3. Make the filling- in a large bowl stir together the crushed walnuts, powdered sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and melted butter until well combined.

4. Unroll The phyllo sheets, take 2 sheets at a time, spread about 4 to 5 tablespoons of the walnut mixture on one end of the phyllo sheet, roll tightly and place seam side down on baking sheet. Repeat until all the phyllo sheets and filling are done. Cut the Baklawa into small pieces.

5. Pour the melted butter over the Baklawa and bake until golden brown for about 40 minutes.
Step 6
6. When the Baklawa is done baking, remove the pan from the oven and immediately pour the cooled simple syrup evenly over the baklava, then sprinkle some crushed pistachios on top and let it cool down at room temperature and enjoy!
