Layered Egg Custard Cake with Walnuts

Instructions

For the Cake Layers

Step 1
In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together with a mixer.
Step 2
Add one teaspoon of baking soda to the yogurt and mix it with the eggs.
Step 3
Mix in all the other ingredients, adding the flour last.
Step 4
Divide the mixture into three equal parts and add one tablespoon of cocoa powder to one of the parts.
Step 5
Place baking paper in a cake form or tray and bake the cake layers one by one in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

For the Egg Custard

Step 6
Mix eight tablespoons of flour with ten tablespoons of sugar.
Step 7
Dilute the mixture with a 250ml of fresh milk.
Step 8
In a pot, heat the remaining milk and add a lump of cow's butter.

Pour the flour and sugar mixture into the pot and stir continuously with an egg beater until it thickens.
Step 10
In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs with two tablespoons of sugar and vanilla.
Step 11
Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix until it becomes a homogeneous mixture.

For the Syrup

Step 12
Add sugar to water and boil for 15 minutes.

For the Assembling of the Cake

Step 13
Syrup the cake layers.
Step 14
Spread egg custard on top of the syruped cakes.
Step 15
Sprinkle crushed walnuts on top of the egg custard.
