Instructions

Step 1
Soak lentils in water for a few hours or overnight.
Step 2
Dice all vegetables.
Step 3
Cut bacon into small strips, and cut sausages into bite-sized pieces.
Step 4
Sauté onion, sausage, and bacon strips with salt and pepper in olive oil in a soup pot until the bacon is crispy and the onion is golden.
Step 5
Add diced carrot, potatoes, and rutabaga and sauté further.
Step 6
Add a splash of vinegar to deglaze the pot.
Step 7
Add beef/vegetable stock and bring to a boil.
Step 8
Add lentils and simmer for ~30 minutes.
Step 9
Add salt, pepper, sugar, and nutmeg to taste.
Step 10
Serve with a couple shakes of dried parsley on top.
