Step 1
cut the beef into cubes and season with salt and pepper
Step 2
cook the beef in the butter then remove
Step 3
add the onions and cook for 5 mins
Step 4
add the garlic and cook for another minute
Step 5
add the beer then bring to a boil for 5 mins
Step 6
add the beef, bay leaves and thyme then simmer
Step 7
add the sliced bread with mustard on top then cover and cook for 2 hours
Step 8
after the 2 hours, remove the lid on the stew then cook for another 30 mins
