Southern Raised Biscuits
Although I always enjoy creating my own recipes I feel a special sense of pride when I am able to pass along one my mother's recipes that I grew up eating. These Southern raised biscuits are light, fluffy and super easy to make.

Step 2
Combine the yeast and warm water, and give it a little stir to combine. Set it aside while preparing the other stuff, 'bout 5 minutes or until bubbly.

Step 4
Add the buttermilk and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients mixing with a fork until dry ingredients are, dare I say, moistened.
Step 5
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and lightly get your knead on 3 or 4 times. Cut dough in half. Roll out each half to 1/2 inch thickness.
Step 6
Cut with biscuit cutter (or mug, or mason jar, or whatever you wanna use) dusted with flour.and place on lightly greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for one hour.
Step 7
Place on middle rack in oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. Enjoy your biscuity bread heaven.
