1 ½ cuppowdered sugar

2 ½ cupsflour
1 tspbaking soda
1 tspcream of tartar

Frosting
1 lbpowdered sugar
½ cupbutter
room temperature
5.5 Tbspmilk
plus or minus
1 tspvanilla
Merengue powder
optional, I have never used
Instructions
Step 1
Cookies: Cream butter and powdered sugar; add vanilla; then beat in 1 egg. Sift dry ingredients, then add to butter mixture. Chill dough slightly. Roll out onto floured board 1/8" thick. Cut into shapes. Bake @ 375 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet 10 minutes. Cool & frost.
Step 2
Frosting: Blend butter, milk, & vanilla in a mixer. Add powdered sugar.
