Muei and Side Dishes
2 steps
Prep:10minCook:30min
a.k.a rice porridge or congee.
Easiest is Beh Muei - eat with salty side dishes. Can also add a spoonful or so of oats to add nutrition and texture.
Typical Variations:
NOTE: usually topped with chopped coriander and spring onion. Can add a knob of ginger to the base of all of these to make them more warming.
- Salted pork meat, carrot, and potato. I substitute the pork with fish balls.
- Beef mince, soy sauce +/- grated carrot
- Shredded chicken, sliced shitake mushrooms, century egg (cooked in chicken broth)
- Sliced paua and sliced shitake mushrooms (cooked in chicken broth)
- Roast duck leftovers
