Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

You Can add bacon, Fire roasted tomatoes and or mushrooms on top of first layer of pasta

Instructions

White Sauce

Step 1
Melt butter in saucepan over low heat
Step 2
Blend in flour, salt and pepper
Step 3
Cook over low heat. Stir until Mixture is smooth (I add bit of milk to make it easier to mix) and bubbly.

Add balance of milk
Step 5
Increase to medium high heat and stir frequently until until starts boiling
Step 6
Boil and stir for 1 minute and then remove from heat

Mac and Cheese

Step 7
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Step 8
Boil Macaroni as per packaging instructions
Step 9
Place 1/2 cooked macaroni in 13x9 dish
Step 10
Sprinkle 1/2 of salt, pepper, cheese, mushrooms and tomato
Step 11
Place the balance of mac on and repeat salt, pepper and cheese
Step 12
Cover with white sauce
Step 13
Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with butter
Step 14
Cover and bake for 30 minutes
Step 15
Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes
