Instructions
Step 1
Roughly chop the onion and garlic
Step 2
Add a generous amount of olive oil to a pot. Add the onions, garlic, and the salt.
Step 3
Once the onions have gone slightly translucent, add the cumin and chili flakes. Fry off the spices for one to two minutes.
Step 4
Drain the chickpeas and add them to the pot
Step 5
Using a fork, mash the chickpeas. This can be done roughly.
Step 6
Fill the pot with water until the chickpeas are just covered. Let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes without the lid on.
Step 7
Add the spinach, kale, or other leafy vegetable of choice. Stir well.
Step 8
Add pepper to taste and serve with rice or flatbread.
