Instructions

Step 1
Place the oven rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat to 350°F.
Step 2
In one of the mixing bowls whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
To brown the butter, melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Keep a watchful eye on the butter as it melts, stir with rubber spatula occasionally. You will watch the butter go from yellow to brown. Continue to melt the butter until it’s a deep golden color. It will also smell nutty. Brown bits on the bottom of the skillet is normal.

After about 5 minutes of cooling, mix in the granulated sugar, brown sugar until fully incorporated.
Step 5
Whisk in the egg and vanilla until the mixture looks glossy on top. (a slight gloss, nothing too shiny)
Step 6
Using a rubber spatula, mix in the flour mixture you set aside earlier. Mix until fully combined. (no dry clumps of flour sticking to the sides or bottom of bowl)
Step 7
Fold in the chopped chocolate, and mix in with a rubber spatula, or knead using your hands (either works! ).
Step 8
Scoop a heaping tablespoon of dough and place on parchment line baking sheet.
Step 9
Bake cookies for 9-10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Step 10
Let cookies rest on a baking sheet for 5 minutes before carefully moving them to a wire rack to cool.
