Instructions
Step 1
Rinse rice in a mesh strainer. Place strainer over a bowl and set aside.
Step 2
Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add cumin, cardamom, and cloves and cook until fragrant, about 1 min. Add rice and stir constantly until fragrant, about 1 min.
Step 3
Add water, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until water is absorbed, about 17 min. Let stand, covered, off heat for 10 min. Discard cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and bay leaf. Fluff with a fork before serving.
