Step 5
Remove the bacon and sauté your celery and onion until translucent, then add your seasonings
Step 6
Add your garlic and cook until fragrant before adding your flour
Step 7
Add your flour to the sautéed vegetables and cook down for about 1 minute before adding your chicken broth
Step 8
Slowly add your chicken broth to prevent clumps, continue until you have a smooth consistency
Step 9
Add your heavy cream, stir and throw in your potatoes
Step 10
Let your soup boil for about an hour, constantly stirring the pot to prevent the potatoes from sticking at the bottom. Drop the heat down to Med-Low and let it simmer for the remaining 30 minutes.
Step 11
Once your potatoes are falling apart and the soup has thickened, you can add your bacon back in, along with the green onions, cheddar cheese, and sour cream. (I like to add sour cream to the entire pot, but do as your soul calls you to 🤗)
For the Bread Bowl:
Step 12
Finely mince a couple cloves of garlic and add them to 3 tbsp of melted, salted butter & set aside
Step 13
Cut a whole about 2 inches deep into the top of a bread round or loaf. Don’t cut too deep to ensure your bowl is sturdy. You can always dig out extra bread if you didn’t cut deep enough.
Step 14
Brush the inside and outside of your bread bowl with the butter you set aside earlier, and throw into the oven for 3 minutes on 425 degrees
Step 15
Remove the bread bowl, add your soup, throw some cheese on top and throw it back into the oven for 2 minutes! Once the time is up, carefully remove your bread bowl, add your toppings, and enjoy!!
