Step 1
Warm the milk until steaming and add chocolate chips, stirring to melt. Whisk eggs with sugar and vanilla. Add a little hot chocolate mixture to warm them. Mix eggs mixture into hot chocolate and heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens slightly. When done, the custard should coat the back of a spoon and leave a trail if one pulls a finger or another spoon through. Mix the cream into the custard. Leave to cool and then refrigerate. When cold, churn in an ice cream maker according to instructions.
