Middle Eastern Simple Syrup (a must for desserts!)

Simple Syrup قطر This is a must in your fridge for so many desserts! To name a few, knafeh, atayef, layali lebnan, hareeseh, aish alsaraya…so many! Some desserts require the syrup to be hot, and it’s really easy to heat back up in a saucepan. During Ramadan I always have this in my fridge. You can easily double, or triple this amount which I tend to do during Ramadan with so many desserts being served during this time.

Instructions

Step 1
Add sugar and water in a saucepan, let it come to a boil on high heat
Step 2
Once at a boil, lower to medium heat, and set timer to 10 mins
Step 3
Add 1 tsp lemon juice at the 9 min mark (this helps it not crystalize!)
Step 4
Turn heat off at 10 min mark, stir in orange blossom water
Step 5
Let it cool before serving, and store in the fridge, this lasts for at least 1-2 months in the fridge
