Instant Pot Butter Chicken

The chicken thighs were a great idea....needs more chicken overall. Not a go-to but this would be good every couple of months

Delicious! Great fakeaway. I added some ground almonds for a little extra thickness at the end, and a knob of coconut cream. Had it with rice (washed, 1:1.5) cooked with turmeric, butter, cardamom pods and bay and lime leaves.

This was my first attempt at cooking anything Indian and it was absolutely delicious! I added some tenderstem broccoli which complimented it well. It was super easy to make & I got 5 portions from it and as I live alone I froze 3 portions. This will definitely be a go to meal for me.

Really easy and tasted delicious. I doubled the spices and added a slurry of corn starch to thicken it. I would add maybe another 400grams of chicken as it was a lot of sauce to meat.

The tomatoe sauce over powered the spices. A bif lack of flavor.

I never follow ratios given. I just use them as a suggestion and use whatever amount tastes good to me. It's a great base. I also didn't use the instant pot. I did a dry rub on the chicken breast with those spices, browned it, then deglazed the pan with tomato sauce and heavy cream. Then I added all the other spices to the sauce and let it reduce while covered.

I used the coconut milk and still found it needed a small amount of sugar to balance the flavor. I also did a pot and pot with my instant pot so the rice was made at the same time. I thought it was quite good and will probably make it again

As others have mentioned it's a really good recipe; can't believe how easy it was. I also did some modifications that I think helped tailor to our taste a bit. I would recommend to not use the standard tomato sauce that you would use for pasta; look for passata (they have it in regular grocery stores). PERSONAL REMINDERS: Don't add too much salt. Marinate the chicken at least an hour ahead with the spices; also added a bit of yogurt to the mix to help the spices distribute on the chicken. Then browned the chicken in a separate pan; this helped kick off the spices. When deglazin the pan, use only use a tiny bit of water. Cut up chicken in really small pieces and did 5 mins on pressure cooker. You will be cooking it more since you will add the cream and let simmer. Add 25% more of spices but not more.

With some moderate tweaking, this made an amazing dish. First, we pretty much doubled the garlic (because I am a garlic fiend), we were also very heavy handed with the spices (extra cumin & tumeric and we added garlic salt toward the end instead of regular salt), finally we used chicken breasts and modified the cook time to 5 minutes. The burn error went off because I was concerned it would be too watery (as some reviews mentioned) but we put ¼ cup of water in and stirred and restarted the pressure. It looked very watery when it finished and even after we added the cream, but after letting it simmer a bit everything had a wonderful consistency.

Toasted spices, then cooked the garlic a bit then marinated it for a few hours before cooking. Really good, first time trying the pressure cooker, sweet, spicy, delicious.

I added a teaspoon of sugar. Can't really taste it, but I kind of like it that way. The sauce is a little liquidy, I would recommend not adding the 1/4 cup of water.

I had to do the stovetop recipe since I forgot to grab my instant pot back from my sister, the chicken thighs made it rich and flavorful. I topped it over chickpea pasta I had leftover and it was a hit!! Definitely making it again and excited to share with friends.

Nice new flavor, i sadly didn't have time to make "nane"? Bread ( sorry can't remember the spelling!) But the rice underneath was just lovely!

Add home made naans!

It's not terrible, but it's not great either. Definitely not restaurant quality if you're looking for that. It's super strong on the tomato flavor, to the point of being tart, which is not what I expect for butter chicken.

Could use some more spice. Don't add water before pressure cooking it becomes diluted

I used coconut milk as opposed to cream and it was delicious. It was probably thinner that it would have been with cream but I didn't mind. I used ground ginger as opposed to fresh because I forgot to buy some. SMH. Fresh would be better, but it wasn't bad. Used 1 tsp of ground ginger, maybe use more next time. Overall, I thought it was flavorful and easy to make.

It's pretty good! Super easy, make sure to add 1 tsp of sugar to it or it won't taste like the restaurant one . I didn't add the chili powder cuz I like it a little sweeter

Great recipe! I added a handful of extra spices (namely, white pepper, cayenne, and cinnamon) as well as a touch of sugar. It takes a while to reduce the sauce down, but a little cornstarch slurry sped up the process!

Pretty tasty, went with chicken breast. May have to add a teaspoon more of garam but other than that pretty good

So delicious! It is super runny and needs to be reduced much longer than stated, but it is worth the wait! Don't add the cream until you've reduced it to a thicker-than-needed consistency, then add cream and simmer if needed. Also, I would add in another pound of chicken next time to make this a main dish that feeds six easily.

This has to be my new favorite recipe. It had tons of flavor! My husband and father in law (who do not like spices) for some reason lived this recipe too! We swapped chicken for pork chops, and tweaked the spices a tiny bit. I had to make my own garam masala, and i didnt have all the spices for that. But we just dumped it all together in 3 pounds of pork chops in the instapot for 10 min. Definitely a new go to :)

Bit too mild for me but perfect for my husband and 7 month old daughter. Really easy to make and easy peasy to prep.

A staple in our house. We like it spicy so add a kick of cayenne. Pair with some grilled naan and it’s nearly restaurant quality from your instant pot!

I think I’ll add a bit less tomato sauce but other than that. Super easy and it reminded us of our favorite restaurant.

So yummy! I used coconut cream (just the white solid part of canned coconut milk and it turned out great. It was a little bit runny but thickened up after adding a bit of corn starch.

Everyone loves this butter chicken recipe! Eat it with naan bread, when you are done heating up the naan in the oven, put some butter mixed with garlic powder on it with a brush. The naan is an extra special treat with this meal, but the meal itself is delicious

SO delicious and flavorful! I'll probably add some veg (sugar snap peas maybe?) next time! 😊
