Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C)

In a food processor, combine flour, salt, brown sugar, baking powder, and 1 cup dried mulberries. Pulse until combined.

Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Reserve 1 1/2 - 2 tablespoons for an egg glaze. Add to the dry ingredients and mix until a rough dough forms.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead 4 times, or until dough comes together. Roll out dough to 1-1.5 inches thick. Cut out scones using a 1.5-inch biscuit cutter. Re-roll and cut the dough scraps as needed.

Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown. (While the scones bake, make the jam!) Set them aside on a cooling rack for a few minutes or serve warm with mulberry jam and clotted cream.

Wash the mulberries and remove any stems.

In a medium saucepan, combine the mulberries, honey, water, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the berries have broken down and the jam has thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Pour the jam into a clean jar and seal tightly. (Jam can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.)
