Brown sugar cinnamon bagels

These are easy to make bagels but takes patience. They are slightly sweet and yummy. Great spread with brown sugar cinnamon spreadable cream cheese. 😋

Instructions

Step 1
Whisk warm water and yeast in a bowl of stand mixer, fitted with dough hook attachment. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes
Step 2
Add flour, brown sugar and salt. Beat on low speed for two minutes. The dough will be stiff and will look somewhat dry.
Step 3
Turn dough out onto floured work surface. With lightly floured hands, knead dough for 6 or 7 minutes. After kneading, the dough will feel soft. Poke it with your finger, and if bounces back, dough is ready to rise. If not keep kneading.
Step 4
When bounces back, place dough into greased bowl and cover wirh plastic wrap or kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature for 60 to 90 minutes or till doubled in size.
Step 5
Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 6
When dough is ready, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. ( just eyeball it, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Step 7
Shape each piece into a ball and punch hole about 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter.
Step 8
Loosely cover the shaped bagels and cover with kitchen towel and rest for a few minutes as you prepare water.
Step 9
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Step 10
Fill a large pot with 2 quarts water. Whisk in honey and bring to boil, then reduce heat to medium-high.
Step 11
Drop bagels in two at a time, making sure they have enough room to move around .
Step 12
Cook bagel one minute on each side, continue with rest.
Step 13
Make egg wash and brush top and sides of bagel.
Step 14
Place 4 bagels on each baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, rotating pan half way thru baking. Should be dark golden brown.
Step 15
Remove and let cool minutes and then place on wire rack until completely cooled
Step 16
Great toasted and covered with brown sugar cimmamon spreadable cream cheese. Enjoy
