Instructions
Step 1
Wash hands, apron on. Unpack your ingredients onto a white tray

Oven on Gas 4, 160˚C
Step 3
Mix your flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl
Step 4
Cut your butter or margarine into small lumps with a rounded bladed knife, then add to the mixture
Step 5
Rub the fat into the flour using your fingertips, until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs
Step 6
Knead the mixture with your hands, until the mixture forms a dough
Step 7
Place the lump of dough into your cake tin. Using your knuckles, press the dough into the tin, evenly to the tin edge
Step 8
Smooth to a flat surface with the back of a tablespoon
Step 9
Decorate the edge with a fork. Divide into 8 equal pieces. Prick neatly with a fork
Step 10
Bake in the centre of the oven, 25-30 minutes until pale brown. Carefully cut through the slice markings again, while still hot.
Step 11
Allow to cool before removing from the tin
