Easy Chinese Peanut Mochi (Muah Chee )

1 step
Prep:5minCook:5min
Love mochi? Make Muah Chee (麻糍) a Chinese-style glutinous rice dessert - a bit like a freeform mochi that’s extra chewy and soft and rolled in crunchy roasted peanuts or sesame and sugar. It comes together in under 10 minutes and is naturally vegan and gluten-free (NOTE: glutinous rice does not contain gluten - it refers to it being sticky!!)

Instructions

Step 1
Crush peanuts in a food processor and I like to further toast mine in a pan til golden brown, but that’s optional. Cool completely if toasting then place peanuts into a bowl and mix with sugar and salt. Mix all Muah Chee ingredients in a bowl and microwave for 3 minutes - the mixture should be pretty much all set. Use a wet spoon to mix well then microwave for another minute. Mix well, then grease two teaspoons with a little sesame oil (this will help more powder stick) and scoop dollops fo the Muah Chee mixture straight into the powder and use another spoon to cover generously. Serve with toothpicks and enjoy!
