1 lbslean ground beef

0.5 lbsItalian sausage
mild, casings removed

4 Tbspolive oil

1 cupyellow onions
chopped

¾ cupcarrots
chopped

6cloves garlic
minced

2 x 28 ozcans tomato purée

6 Tbspbutter
melted

2 Tbspdried oregano
crumbled

2 Tbspdried basil
crumbled

½ Tbspsalt

1 Tbspfreshly ground pepper

0.5 lbslasagna noodles
cooked

2 cupsricotta cheese

2 Tbspgrated parmesan cheese

1.5 lbsmozzarella cheese
grated
Instructions
Step 1
Brown the beef and sausage in a large skillet, drain and set aside. In the same skillet, heat the oil in a skillet and add the onions, carrots, and garlic, stirring until they are lightly browned; once done, add meat back in to heat up.






Step 2
Mix tomatoes and meat mixture in a large saucepan, and simmer 15 Minutes. Mix together spices and melted butter in a small bowl. Add the butter and spices to pot, partially cover to avoid splattering, and simmer 30 minutes.











Step 3
Assemble the lasagna (best if you assemble a day ahead to enhance the flavors) in the following order:
Parmesan
Sauce
Noodles
Ricotta
Mozzarella
Sauce
Noodles
Ricotta
Mozzarella
Noodles
Sauce (Drizzle)




Step 4
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Bake 40 minutes or until hot and bubbling.
