Instructions
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 425.
Step 2
2. In a bowl, combine apples, pecans, brown sugar, applesauce, & cinnamon. Stir to mix & set aside.

3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, & vanilla extract. In a third bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, & baking soda.
Step 4
4. Pour the egg mixture into flour mixture & stir gently until just combined. DO NOT OVERMIX.

5. Brush bottom & sides of a 13-by-18 inch rimmed baking sheet with butter.
Step 6
6. Add the batter to the baking sheet, smoothing evenly with the back of a spoon.
Step 7
7. Dollop apple mixture by spoonfuls evenly over the batter, & gently swirl mixture into batter.
Step 8
8. Bake 20 - 22 minutes, until golden brown & top springs back when touched.
Step 9
9. Remove from oven. Serve with butter & syrup.
