Corn Starch Icing (Formal name: Ermine Butter Cream)

This is a great, light— not very sweet- icing. It is made with cornstarch and milk that is cooked together on stove - until thickened - and then once cooled completely, you add it to the butter/sugar/vanilla creamed together.

Instructions

Step 1
In small pan, put milk and cornstarch and bring to boil under flame. KEEP STIRRING until until mixture has thickened.
Step 2
Let that mixture cool completely.
Step 3
Blend sugar, butter, crisco, and vanilla until smooth; MAKE SURE CORNSTARCH MIXTURE IS COOL - and if so - add it to the creamed butter sugar mixture.
Step 4
Blend so so slow.
Step 5
That is it— your Ermind Butter cream.
Step 6
If you want chocolate Icing… add desired cocoa. If you want a pink/blue/red (etc) just add food coloring once everything is blended
