Instructions

The sauce

Step 1
The sauce is simple, just mix all the ingredients and set aside for later, as you will use it when assembling the burger

Caramelized onions

This is what takes the most time, so this is what you are going to start cooking first. You only need a pan and your tool of choice to stir (spoon, spatula, tongs). A stainless steel or carbon steel pan is preferred, but any kind of pan works

First you will put the butter in a pan, and let it melt and heat up

Then set the burner to medium heat, and place the onions over the hot butter, and sprinkle the salt over it. And stir occasionally until the onions are brown and softened.

When the onions have a nice golden brown color, pour the water, and let it cook until the water almost evaporates completely

When the water have almost evaporated completely and you are left only with a little bit of liquid in the bottom, and it is like a very runny glaze, add the sugar, and stir it to melt the sugar, and then your caramelized onions will be ready.

The bacon

This is another simple step, and most of the cooking will happen without your Intervention

In a pan at medium heat, put the bacon and water, cover it and let it cook.

After all the water evaporates, the bacon will start to fry in it's own fat. Let it cook until it reaches the level of crispiness that you like most. Make sure to flip your bacon so it cooks evenly on both sides.

The buns

Now you will use a pan at medium heat and cover it with a thin layer of melted butter. It could be the same pan you will use next to cook your patty. So it is preferable to use a cast iron or carbon steel pan, but other pans will work.

While the pan is heating up. Cut your bun in half, and then place both halves on the pan, inner side down. And let them toast until they are a nice golden brown color on the inside

The patty

Preheat the pan on high heat

Now, with the ground beef, form the patty, making it 1 cm wider than your buns, as it'll shrink when it cooks.

Place the patty on the pan, and season it with salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste. Let it cook for 2 minutes on this side

Then flip the patty, and season it with salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste on this side as well. Put the two slices of cheese on it, and cover the pan to melt the cheese. Let it cook for another 1 or 2 minutes

The assembly

Now that you have everything ready, you will assemble it. Just grab a plate. Place your bottom bun, put some sauce in it, then the patty, then the bacon, then the caramelized onions, and then you put some sauce on the top bun half and cover your burger
