Instructions

Step 1
Filling: - Saute onion and spring onion. Cook until browned. - Add the flour then turn off the fire so it wont get burned. - Add sugar (alternatively you can use brown sugar). - Add 1/2 cup water. MIx together. - Add salt and butter. - Transfer to a clean bowl, cover and set aside
Step 2
Dough: - In a mixing bowl, put 250g all purpose flour, 35g sugar, 3g salt, 35ml vegetable oil and 162ml water (1/2cup +3tbsp) - Mix together. No need to smoothen it out or make it pliable. As long as the dough is formed. Cover and let it rest for 15mins - After 15mins, flatten the dough into 3-5mm. - Spread 50g softened unslated butter evenly. Roll it into a log. Cover and let it rest again for 10-15mins before cutting - Portion the dough into 40g-50g pcs (to your preference) and form it into a ball. Let it rest for another 10mins
Step 3
Assemble: - flatten the dough enough to hold 40-50g filling (similar to the weight of the dough). - Seal the dough. Put it down on a surface and lightly flatten it out using your fingers. fold dough in half to make it into a half moon shape. repeat to all remaining dough. - Place filled doughs in a lined tray
Step 4
Egg wash: mix 1 egg, 1/4cup water and egg yellow food color. Brush the dough with egg wash
Step 5
Bake for 20-25mins at 230C
