Pre heat your oven to 180c/gas 4
Line a 2lb loaf tin
1. Pour the boiling water over the chopped dates, bicarbonate of soda and vanilla essence. Leave to Stand
2. Cream butter and sugar together 3. Add the egg and mix
4. Add the flour and baking powder and mix
5. Now add the date mixture and beat all together until mixed
6. Bake for 40-45 mins 7. Add butter, sugar into the pan and heat until sugar dissolved. Stir continuously . Once all mixed in add the cream and stir till all mixed
