Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°
Step 2
Get potatoes prepped and on stove to start boiling. (My recipe for mashed potatoes at bottom of instructions).
Step 3
While potatoes are cooking sauté onion until translucent, then add garlic and continue sautéing until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Step 4
Add both types of meat to onion and garlic. Cook until no longer pink.
Step 5
Off heat, add all three cans of cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables to meat; stir to combine.
Step 6
Add meat mixture to bottom of a deep 13x19 inch pan or slightly larger. Spread to cover the bottom of the pan.
Step 7
Add all three cans of drained string beans to top of meat mixture and spread to cover.
Step 8
Cover meat and string beans with prepared mashed potatoes. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes.
Step 9
When done cooking, remove foil and cover with cheese and cook another 5 to 10 minutes until cheese is melted.
Step 10
Optional: Once cheese has melted, turn on broiler and broil until cheese has browned a bit.

Mashed Potatoes

Step 11
Peel potatoes and cut into chunks. Add to deep pot and cover with water.
Step 12
Boil potatoes until soft
Step 13
Strain potatoes and add back to pot
Step 14
Add stick of butter and use potato masher to combine.
Step 15
Heat 1 cup of cream in microwave for 1 minute and add to potatoes with salt to taste.
Step 16
Using an electric beater, beat potatoes until smooth. Taste and add more salt if needed and stir or beat to combine.
