Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, ans salt.
Step 2
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 3
Make a well in the center, add milk. Stir until dough clings together.
Step 4
On a lightly floured surface knead dough gently 10 to 12 strokes. Roll or pat to 1/2 in thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Dipping in flour between cuts.
Step 5
Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Or until golden. Makes 10.
