Instructions

Step 1
1. Cut the baguette into 4 equal lengths, then cut each piece in half horizontally. Thinly slice the partially frozen streak across the grain
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat, add the onion and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until both vegetables are softened and the onion is golden brown. Push the mixture to one side of the frying pan.
Step 3
Heat the remaining oil in the frying pan over a medium heat. When hot, add the steak and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender. Stir the onion mixture and steak together and season to taste with the salt and pepper.
Step 4
Preheat the grill to medium. Divide the steak mixture between the 4 bottom halves of bread and top with the cheese. Place them on a grill rack and grill for 1-2 minutes until the cheese has melted, then cover with the top halves of bread and press down gently to serve
