You can never go wrong with hamburger steak!! It’s such a versatile option. Whether you want to cook a soulfood sunday meal or weeknight dinner. Next time you want something hearty and simple try this recipe out!
INGREDIENTS:
Ground meat (1.5 lbs)
Onion (1)
Bell pepper (1)
Garlic (3 cloves)
Flour
Egg (3)
Breadcrumbs (1/2 cup)
Parsley (1/4 cup)
Cajun seasoning
Garlic powder
Paprika
Black pepper
Brown gravy mix (Tony’s) 2 cups
Beef Broth (1 cup) or substitute with water
DIRECTIONS:
- Dice onions, peppers
- Mince garlic and parsley
- Combine ground meat, 1/2 onion, 1/2 bell pepper, eggs
- Season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, & black pepper
- Fold in breadcrumbs
- Form patties and lightly dust with flour
- Sear patties on med high heat, on both sides 3-4 minutes per side, and set aside
- Sautéed other half of onion and bell pepper with any leftover meat mixture, add garlic
- Make 2 cups of gravy mixture (according to package directions)
- Pour gravy onto sautéed veggies and bring to a boil
- Add in par cooked patties to gravy cover and cook on med-low until meat reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees (about 15-20 minutes)
- add a cup of broth or a cup of water to thin out your gravy if needed
- Serve with starch and veggies of your choice
NOTES
- All seasoning is to taste. To control intensity I suggest less seasoning on your patties since you can’t taste it but add more to the gravy before adding patties back in.
