Step 1
Put spare ribs in large pot
Step 2
Cover with water
Step 3
Add bay leaves, caraway seeds and garlic
Step 4
Bring to a boil then bring back down to a simmer
Step 5
Rinse sauerkraut well
Step 6
Drain most of the water from the pot leaving about a cup remaining
Step 7
Add sauerkraut and chopped onion
Step 8
Let simmer for 3 hours
Step 9
Add potatoes
Step 10
Simmer another 3 hours
