Instructions
Step 1
Combine all dough ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer except butter. Using the dough hook attachment, knead on medium speed until the dough comes together. Then add in butter and knead until smooth, 10-12mins
Step 2
Shape the dough into a ball, place into a bowl, cover, let rise for 1.5-2hrs or until doubled in size. You can also let the dough rise at room temp for ~ 1hr until it's slightly grown in size, then place it into the fridge overnight. I like to do this as cold dough is easier to work with the next morning
Step 3
Combine all filling ingredients in a small pot except for cornstarch. Simmer on low-medium heat until everything has combined and the mixture thickens. Then add the cornstarch. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temp. It will continue to thicken
Step 4
Roll out the dough to be 12"x16". Spread the filling over dough (you may have leftover filling) and roll it into a log starting from the 12" side. Divide it into 9 sections and place them into a 9" square pan. Cover and let rise for 30mins-1hr until noticeably puffy
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 350F, bake for 22-28 mins or until the tops are lightly golden brown. Serve with your favorite icing
