Instructions

Dough

Step 1
Warm up the evaporated milk to 110-115 degrees and add the yeast and let it sit for 10 minutes or until it gets foamy at the top. Then add to the stand mixer.
Step 2
Add the egg, oil, honey, sugar, flour, and salt. Mix on the lowest setting with a bread hook. Mix for a little and turn up the speed and mix for about 5-7 minutes. Once the dough is combined and smooth it’s done. If the dough is too wet you can add an extra tbsp of flour until it gets to the right consistency.
Step 3
Knead by hand for about a minute so it gets into a ball shape. Add the ball to a well oiled bowl and coat the dough ball. (about 2 tbsp oil). Place in a warm spot for about 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
Step 4
Punch down the dough and press into a rectangular shape. Cut into about 8 small rectangles.
Step 5
Roll each piece into a snake to stretch it out. Flatten the snake out a bit as well. Brush with softened butter. (Use about 3 tbsp of butter to use on all the pieces).
Step 6
Combine the cinnamon mix ingredients. Sprinkle on the buttered side of the flattened snake. Then roll it into an oval/pinwheel shape. Don’t roll it too tightly. Then pinch the end closed.
Step 7
Repeat for each bun.
Step 8
Place them on a lined baking sheet covered with a towel and let the rise for 25-30 minutes.
Step 9
Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Place them on a rack to cook slightly so they are still warm.

Icing

Step 10
Sift or mix with powdered sugar with a whisk and add to a large bowl. Then add the vanilla, and 2 tbsp milk. Mix and add milk a tbsp at a time until the glaze is thick.
Step 11
While the buns are still warm spoon on the icing. Let them sit for about 15 minutes and serve.
