Instructions

Crust

Step 1
Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a large bowl.

Cut in the butter until crumbly.

Gradually add the water, tossing with a fork until it comes together like a ball.

Cover and let rest while you make the filling.

Filling

Wash, peel and grate the yams into another large bowl. Feed the peels to your earthworms.

Add the scrambled egg.

Season to taste with: salt, rosemary powder, garlic powder, and cayenne.

Empanadas

Roll out the crust dough and cut into 6 inch circles. Then measure 1/4 cup of the filling into the center of each circle.

Working with one circle at a time, paint, with the raw egg, 1/4 inch around the edge and fold in half and pinch the edges together, either with fingers or fork.

Place raw empanadas on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes. Check for doneness at 15 minutes.
