Sushi rolls

Easy family meal. Not quite how they would do it in Japan. Makes 5 full rolls.

Instructions

Step 1
Wash rice and put in your cooking pot. Add the vinegar and mirin. Fill the pot with water so that it is 1.5cm above the level of the rice.
Step 2
Put the lid on the pot and put the heat on half way (my stove goes to 10 and I use 5). Let sit until cooked.
Step 3
You may need to add a touch of water but usually I just need to take the lid off for a couple of minutes at the end to make sure all water is evaporated.
Step 4
Allow rice to cool. I spread it thinly on a plate and whack it in the fridge for a few minutes. You don’t need it cold, just not hot. Room temperature is ideal.
Step 5
Divide rice and chosen filling into 5 and make your sushi rolls.
Step 6
Serve with Japanese ginger, Wasabi and soy sauce.
