Buttery Soft Homemade Rolls
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup warm milk and ¼ cup sugar. Stir until dissolved.
Sprinkle 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast over the milk mixture. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix the Dough:
In the bowl of a stand mixer, add 3 cups bread flour and 1 teaspoon salt.
Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
Knead the Dough:
Attach the dough hook and mix on low speed (speed 2 on KitchenAid) for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Scrape the bowl occasionally.
First Rise:
Form dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
Let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough to release air.
Divide into 10-12 equal portions and roll into smooth balls.
Place in a greased large cupcake tin.
Second Rise:
Cover and let rise for 30 minutes, or until puffy and touching.
Bake:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Brush with Butter:
Brush warm rolls with melted butter for extra flavor and softness.
Serve & Enjoy:
Let cool slightly, then serve warm!
