Instructions

Step 1
If using frozen or dried tteok(rice cakes) be sure to give them a rinse with water.
Step 2
If using frozen or dried tteok, soak in warm water to soften them slightly while you add the sauce ingredients to your saucepan.
Step 3
Add all ingredients except tteok, sesame seeds, and sesame oil to a small sauce pan. I like to wait until the mixture is hot to add the sugar, so it mixes in easier.
Step 4
Bring to a light boil and add tteok to the sauce pan. Boil until the sauce is thickened and the tteok is tender.
Step 5
Garnish with sesame seeds, sesame oil, and sliced green onions.
