Instructions

Step 1
Season the chicken cutlets with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Step 2
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the root beer to a boil. Add the seasoned chicken cutlets, reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and let cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temp of 165. Skim off any foam that forms on the surface of the liquid.
Step 3
Remove the chicken and the cooking liquid from the saucepan. Place the chicken in a medium bowl, and reserve the liquid in a separate bowl.
Step 4
Shred the chicken with two forks.
Step 5
Add the shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, and 1/4 of the reserved cooking liquid back to the saucepan. Reduce the heat to medium, stir, and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes or until the chicken is heated through and the sauce has thickened.
Step 6
Wrap the slider buns in a damp paper towel and microwave for 15 seconds or until warm.
Step 7
To serve, spread the bottom halves of the buns with mayonnaise and top with 1/4 cup of shredded chicken.
