Instructions

Step 1
Brown the sausage: In a large deep skillet or Dutch oven, cook the sausage slices over medium heat with the oil until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 2
2. Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, lightly sauté shrimp just until they start to turn pink (1–2 minutes). Don’t fully cook. Remove and set aside with sausage.
Step 3
3. Sauté veggies & spices: Add diced bell pepper to the skillet. Cook 1–2 minutes. Add all spices, toast for 30–60 seconds.
Step 4
4. Simmer the rice: Add the rice, diced tomatoes (with juice), and broth. Stir to deglaze the pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 5
5. Add sausage & shrimp: After 20 minutes, remove from heat. Gently fold in shrimp and sausage. Cover and let sit for 5 minutes (residual heat will finish cooking shrimp).
Step 6
6. Finish & serve: Top with sliced green onions. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
