400gbroccoli
cut into florets

200mlcooking cream

100mlmilk

150gcheese
grated, mild or a mix with aged cheese

1onion
small, finely chopped

1garlic clove
minced

1 tspmustard
optional

1 tsppaprika powder

½ tspnutmeg

salt
to taste

pepper
to taste

1 Tbspbutter
or oil, Optional

cheese
or breadcrumbs for the topping

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C / 390°F (180°C / 355°F fan).
Step 2
Boil the broccoli in lightly salted water for 3–4 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
Sauté the onion and garlic in a pan with butter or oil until soft and fragrant.
Step 4
Add the cream, milk, mustard, paprika, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for a few minutes.
Step 5
Stir in 100 g of the grated cheese until melted and you have a smooth, creamy sauce.
Step 6
In a large bowl, mix the potato slices, broccoli, and sauce.
Step 7
Pour everything into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese (and breadcrumbs if using).
Step 8
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown on top.
