Instructions
Step 1
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil.
Step 2
Add onion and garlic, sautéing for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 4–5 minutes until browned.
Step 4
Reduce heat to medium, cover, and cook for another 2–3 minutes until cooked through.
Step 5
Stir in edamame.
Step 6
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions (about 11 minutes).
Step 7
Drain and return to the pot.
Step 8
Lower the heat under the skillet, then add the carbonara sauce and heat through.
Step 9
Add the hot sauce mixture to the pot of cooked pasta.
Step 10
Add red pepper flakes if using, and toss everything together.
Step 11
Garnish with parmesan cheese and chopped basil. Serve immediately.
