Sourdough's Chicken Recipe

10 steps
Cook:1h
A human-grade fresh dog food that your pups would kill for! For some variety, you can change up the veggies and starches! Just make sure you stick to the 50% protein, 40% veggies, 10% starch rule. Also, make sure your frozen veggie mix contains veggies that are safe and healthy for pups (peas, carrots, green beans, corn), and that you don't add any seasonings to the food. Also note than many dogs are lactose intolerant. Skip the greek yogurt if you think this might upset your dog's stomach! For Sourdough (13lb cockapoo), I feed roughly 1/3 to 1/2 cup per day along with 1/2 to 2/3 cup of dry kibble for grazing.

Instructions

Step 1
In a pot, boil water (do not salt) and cook sweet potato until fork tender. Note: I recommend cooking more than you need for the dogs so you can use the rest for a yummy sweet potato mash!
Step 2
While the potatoes boil, cook spinach and frozen veggies in a pan with a splash of chicken broth just until soft. Set aside.
Step 3
Scramble the eggs (I know it's tempting, but don't season them). Set aside.
Step 4
Cook brown rice in chicken broth (1:2 ratio, covered) until soft. Set aside.
Step 5
While rice cooks, *gently* blend the veggie mix and sweet potatoes with a splash of chicken broth. You just want to make the veggies small enough that the dogs can't pick them out! Set aside.
Step 6
Butcher your rotisserie chicken and measure out your desired amount of meat. Be extra careful not to include any bone fragments.
Step 7
Combine the scrambled eggs and chicken, and weigh with a cooking scale. Multiply this weight by 0.8 to determine the amount of vegetables needed, and multiply by 0.2 to determine the amount of brown rice needed.
Step 8
Gently blend chicken and eggs with more broth until you form a slightly chunky paste.
Step 9
Combine protein paste with the appropriate amount of veggie mixture and brown rice. Stir in greek yogurt, if desired.
Step 10
Serve on a lick mat within 4-5 days, or freeze for later use!
