Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to gas 6/200 degrees
Step 2
Firstly, prepare all the ingredients. Measure everything out and peel and chopped apples. It helps to pop them into a bowl of water with a squeeze of lemon juices added to stop them going brown
Step 3
Melt the butter and sugar together in a sauce pan and add in the chopped apples. Always add a dash of water here. Don't make the fruit mixture to be too dry. Cook them for about 5 minutes. The apples will just be starting to break down, then add in the blackberries. Pop this mixture into an oven proof dish.
Step 4
To make the crumble, put the flour and sugar into a bowl, then add in chunks of the cold butter. Using just the tips of your fingers, rub the chunks of butter into the floor/sugar mixture until it's pretty even and crumbly. Then, stir in the porridge oats with the mixture.
Step 5
Cover the fruit with the crumble, then sprinkle with the nuts (if used) and bake for about 30 minutes
Step 6
Serve with double cream or custard.
